To replace an iPhone 3G LCD Screen you will need:- one of these replacement 3G LCD Screens
- iPhone Repair Toolkit (optional, but makes the process a lot easier)
Some background on the iPhone Screen AssemblyAll iPhones actually have 2 screens, a 'touch screen' (aka: Digitizer) and an LCD screen. These two screens are assembled together to form the iPhone Screen Assembly (see image below). The touch screen is 'see through' and infers the touch sensitivity, whilst the LCD screen displays the picture. As you can see from the picture, the touch screen forms the outer part of the screen and indeed the whole front of the iPhone.
As the Touch Screen is on top of the LCD screen it is very common for the Touch Screen to get damaged whilst the LCD screen remains intact, but if the LCD screen is damaged then it is very common for the Touch Screen to be damaged also.
