Wii DVD Optical Laser

Wii DVD optical laser, suitable for all Nintendo Wii models.

Just like all DVD, CD, and blue-ray drives Wii DVD drive lasers can wear out with even moderate normal use. Playing scratched, damaged, dirty or pirated games can wear lasers excessively causing the lasers to wear out faster. If your Wii is struggling to read discs or frequently giving you the 'disc dirty' error then your Wii needs a new DVD optical laser.

Please note that Wii DVD drive optical lasers are very sensitive to static electricity. Wii DVD drive optical lasers are shipped and posted with an anti-static solder bead on the ribbon cable to protect the component from any static electricity that may be produced during shipping, postage or handling (see image below). This anti-static solder bead must be removed for the optical laser unit to function. Any simple soldering iron can do this very quickly and easily.

If you are not comfortable removing this anti-static bead yourself we can remove it for you. Requesting to have the solder removed by us leaves the optical laser unit vulnerable to static damage during postage. With the anti-static solder bead removed the risk of static damage during transit is very low, but please be aware that requesting to have the anti-static solder bead removed by us voids our return policy.




To replace a Wii DVD Drive Optical Laser you will need:
-one of these replacement Wii DVD Optical Laser units
-a Triwing Screwdriver
-a small phillips-head screwdriver
-a soldering iron (if you plan to remove the anti-static solder yourself)
